Together ForeverI have realised that there are quite a few things that I have to pray about! The "Together Forever" course has revealed areas where I have to ask God to help me change and be what He wants me to be. I have realised that when you are married you are a team. During this engagement period of our relationship, there are so many things to start working on and just set a wonderful foundation for marriage. The course is AMAZING as it covers all the aspects of marriage. It helped us communicate and start talking about things that we didn't even think were important to talk about!

Dear Family Life,
Jason and I have been blessed over the last two weeks because of the Together Forever Course. We do not have major issues, but I do believe that the small things can often cause the most damage. This course has given us a safe place to bring every small thing into the open. We have both been so amazed at how our life experience affects the response that we have toward one another. A small thing like me saying the word "whatever" to me this means "everyything is fine with me" and to him it means "I don't care" or "I don't want to hear it" and how it hurts him when I say it. We spoke about how I need quality time with my girl friends. He sees us spending time with others as a sacrifice because we are apart, and I see it as an investment. I see his saying I am late when a time was set as possessive and he sees it is as impatience, which when we prayed about it (we almost broke up because of this) he realised that it comes from the frame of mind that he is in after work, because of the type of job that he has, where he is constantly pushing people for deadlines. He repented for his impatience and asked God to help him to not bring it home.
I had a huge issue about pooling our finances. The talk the first night of being married by law with an antinup, but every day, living in community of property, really spoke volumes to my heart and changed my thinking. I am ready now to trust him in that area and let go of a responsibility that I have always only trusted myself with. The talk on intimacy left me flabbergasted. I never believed that a woman had a right to experience pleasure in this area and always felt it was to satisfy her man. The thought of enjoying this time, loving him and being loved by him "all over" was something I saw as wrong and lustful. Jason knew how I felt as this was something we discussed openly, and when I was told otherwise I realised how damaging my thinking would be to our intimate relationship. Quite frankly, I would be boring!! When I heard that one's intimacy is a good barometer of how healthy ones relationship is, I was so desperate to have my heart and mind renewed. Jason and I went to God with it, decided on steps we would take when the time came, so that I would not have to fear being uncomfortable and within two days I have been set free of my fear and am actually looking forward to us learning together.
For our spiritual growth it has also been amazing. Jason used to be so intimidated by my prayer life and spiritual upbringing. From the beginning I decided to always encourage him to be the spiritual head. Now we pray together with ease and look forward to those times because they are so special. They draw us closer to each other in such a powerful way.
We thought we had it all together before we went on this course. Our ignorance could have been disastrous. I just thank God that He loves us enough to put us into a place where He can change us whether we think we need it or not.

"The last half of the year 2000 saw the El Shaddai Christian Church introduce both the "Together Forever" seminar as a tool to help prepare five couples for marriage, and "The Anointed Marriage" seminar for our church Leadership, comprising fourteen couples.
As pastors we appreciated the results that flowed from using The Together Forever seminar. We used group viewings of the video material followed by group discussion and then individual meetings with the couples. The group discussions were lively indicating that real issues were being addressed. Even those questions that might have appeared to be basic at first asking led to discussion that caused all present to think or re-think their position and practice on a specific aspect of their relationship and so all were challenged as a result."
As a pastor of a local church, I have been preparing couples for marriage for some 22 years, but I have made some significant changes to both the preparation phase and the actual wedding ceremony as a result of using the seminar. We asked our entire church leadership to undergo The Anointed Marriage seminar. As one who has participated in a number of marriage seminars before and even led some, I want to bear testimony to the Lord's refreshing touch on my wife and I giving new impetus to our marriage.
The presentation included areas new to us and these gave direction and excitement at what the Lord had in store for us as a couple. This I might add, after 37 years of marriage already behind us. Familiar sections of the teaching challenged our current relationship and caused us to again reflect on, speak about and renew parts of our marriage not recently given attention.

Morris and I agree that this course has helped us to understand each other even more. Sally and Les (the facilitators)were so open to us as a group that it helps us realise the mistakes/pitfalls that can come across life's pathways. Doing the course showed us our weaknesses and our strengths and how to be accepting in those areas as a couple.
The course is certainly life changing and thought provoking. As a couple, it brought us even more closer in our walk with the Lord and closer in our relationship too. This course is an absolute blessing!
